Canon PIXMA G3500 Drivers Download– The Canon PIXMA G3500 is an inkjet printer with an ink tank, which means that you don’t have to replace the cartridges. With the amount of ink provided, the average consumer could last for years to come. It only becomes very profitable if you print a lot because the purchase price is quite high. Print quality is better than Epson’s EcoTank. The printer has a little extra, so there’s no screen and you can’t double-sided print.
Canon PIXMA G3500 Ink tank
Canon’s G Series consists of an inkjet printer with a large ink tank that you fill with ink from the supplied bottle. Most inkjets have expensive loose cartridges filled with ink, which need to be replaced more regularly. Having said that, the problem was solved. Epson has been selling this type of printer for some time under the name EcoTank.
Lots of prints
Canon claims that you can print 6,000 black pages. That’s right, because our tests show that you can print about 5,500 letters with a full black tank. Just a comparison; with black cartridges from a normal Canon Pixma inkjet printer you often get less than 500 letters.
You can print around 1100 large photos or 2600 spreadsheets with it, which is a lot less than the claimed 7000 pages of color. Canon’s standard test page may be less populated than ours. The average family can still use this for years to come.
In fact; A survey among our consumer panel showed that most people only print 30 pages per month, so the ink will not run out after 15 to 20 years. The question is whether the printer will still work then.
Save more with lots of printing
If you don’t print much, the ink tanks are less useful. You never run out of ink and the purchase price is relatively high. The G3500 costs € 310, while for € 50 to € 150 there is quite a good selection of multifunctional color printers.
However, if we look at the big picture, after 5 years you will lose as much or less money as compared to regular inkjets. You spend a lot of money on cartridges. If you score a lot, then you are really starting to take advantage of the large tank; a letter will cost you less than half a penny. And in a few years you will incur the purchase costs.

Compared to EcoTank
If we compare the G3500 to Epson’s EcoTank, a few things stand out;
- G3500’s photo quality is better, text and especially photos often look better.
- The G3500 is quieter.
- Most EcoTank models use less ink when printing letters; when printing photos, the G3500 is more economical.
- If you don’t print much, the G3500 uses less ink. EcoTank will likely need more ink for the auto cleaning cycle to prevent the nozzles from clogging.

It’s not messy
Preparing the printer for use is straightforward. The most exciting job is filling the ‘tank’. The ink comes in bottles, which you empty into various tanks. It went smoothly and we got away (luckily!) Without stains on hands or clothes.
On the front you can see the ink on the back of the box. This way you can easily see how much ink is left. If you look ‘under the hood’, you can see that a small tube full of ink flows from the ink tank to the printhead.
A few extras
In general, the G3500 is a good printer, but poorly equipped. The price is high, although you get a lot of ink in exchange. However, the printer does not have a screen and cannot print on both sides of the paper.
Wi-Fi and applications
Like many modern printers, it can be connected to your WiFi network, so you can print wirelessly. If you want to print from your smartphone, there is the Canon PRINT app. With this you can easily print great photos or, for example, admission tickets, without a laptop or computer. You can also use Google Cloud Print or Apple AirPrint.
