Canon Pixma MP560 Printer Driver Free Download– The MP560 can print, scan, and copy, and can scan to email via your PC, launch email messages and add scanned documents as attachments. It can likewise check straightforwardly to a USB key, which is a helpful comfort. It misses the mark on a programmed document feeder, Ethernet connector, and fax modem-all fundamental highlights for office use-yet it incorporates two 150-sheet paper plates and a duplexer.
These two trays are especially useful in printers servicing both the home and the home office. You can keep the plain paper in one, and photo paper in the other, and then switch between printing documents and photos without having to check what type of paper is in the printer each time.
True to its primary drive as a home printer, the MP560 offers a wide range of photo-centric features. Prints directly from PictBridge cameras, memory cards, and USB memory buttons, and lets you preview photos on the 2-inch color LCD before printing. The front panel menu also offers a Photo Reprint feature (separate from the standard copy feature) which can print borderless photos. The Photo Reprint option also did a respectable job in my tests of matching colors to the original photo.
Settings and Speed
For my test, I connected the MP560 with a USB cable. The setting is standard fare. Set the 6.3 by 17.9 by 14.5 inch (HWD) printer in place, insert the printhead and ink cartridges, load the paper, run the automatic installation program from the disc, and plug in the USB link when the program prompts you to do as such. Note that the MP560 utilizes five ink cartridges, one for each shading cyan, yellow, maroon, color dark for text, and color-based dark for photographs.
The MP560’s speed is best described as acceptable but a bit of a gimmick. On our suite of business applications (set up with QualityLogic hardware and software), it logged in with a total time of 15 minutes 10 seconds. In comparison, Editor’s ChoiceEpson Stylus NX515($149.99 direct,) takes only 8:32. The MP560 is also slightly slower for photos, but faster than the NX515, at 1:39 for every 4-by-6, compared to 2:05 for the NX515, and 3:18 for each 8-by-10, compared to 4:41.
Quality Output Quality
output is one of the advantages of the MP560, with better-than-par text for an inkjet MFP, top-notch photo quality, and distinctive graphic quality.
On our test suite, the MP560 scored better than most inkjets, with more than half the fonts in the suite qualifying as very readable and well-formed at 5 points. The only font that takes more than 8 points to pass both tests is very stylish, with bold strokes. The text doesn’t have the sharp edges you’d like for resume or desktop publishing and can smudge if it gets wet. However, unless you have an unusual need for small font, you will find it suitable even for most business needs.
Graphics quality is easily good enough for both home printing needs and internal business needs including PowerPoint handouts, for example. I see some relatively smooth banding, but only in default mode and that too is clearly visible in just a few graphics. I’ve also noticed a tendency for thin lines to disappear, but this is a common problem with the printer, and not as bad on the MP560 as it was on some of the other printers I’ve tested.
Depending on how perfectionist you are, you might find them good enough to output to important clients or customers. However, like most Canon inkjets, the ink has a tendency to add curl to the plain paper we used in our tests, so if you’re using full-page graphics, you may need to invest in more expensive, heavier paper.
Most Canon inkjets perform well on photo quality. The MP560 is no exception. The colors are a little flashy, but many people prefer that over the more realistic colors. The only issue I see worth mentioning is the slight tint in the black-and-white photos, but even that is small enough that a lot of people won’t notice, and even most people would find it acceptable.
The overall photo quality is at least as good as you’d expect from a drugstore print, and arguably better. The photos were also fairly water and scratch-resistant in my tests, and they promise to last a long time, with a claimed lifespan of 300 years in dark storage, as in the album, and 30 years framed behind glass.
One final plus is Canon’s one-year warranty. Canon says that if it can’t fix the problem over the phone, it will ship a replacement printer along with a prepaid return shipping label, with Canon taking the shipping costs in both directions.
Overall, the MP560 offers a more than the acceptable balance of speed, output quality, features, and price. It doesn’t match the Editors’ Choice NX515 on text quality, but ties in for graphics quality, beating the NX515 on photo quality, and although much slower for business applications, it’s faster for photos. The NX515’s lower price keeps it firmly in its place as the clear Editor’s Choice in the category, but if you care more about photos than text, the MP560 is a more reasonable alternative for home, home office, or both use.
